What is Wellness Travel?
Depending who you ask, wellness travel – or wellness tourism – can mean different things to different people.
For some, wellness travel involves healing and recuperation.
For others it involves transformation, relaxation or reinvention.
For still others it involves weight loss, meditation or soft-adventures.
For me, wellness travel can happen anywhere.
At a spa, in the city, at a restaurant, on a mountain, on a trail or at an amusement park. Wellness travels happens when we allow ourselves to be mindful and aware and when we are open to endless possibilities for transformation– whether we are on a solo trip, traveling for work, or enjoying a family vacation.
Do I have to want to climb a mountain?
No. You do not have to equip yourself with crampons and set a goal to climb Mount Everest. But hey, if you want to – all the better. (I personally have my heart set on Kilimanjaro one day, but for the moment, let's focus on the now.) You have to want to change. To celebrate. To live in the now. Reaching your own summit will look different for each person. Maybe it just means embracing change without fear or judgment. Maybe it means taking the first steps toward transformation – in your body or mind. Maybe it means catching your first wave, completing a marathon or taking a trip you’ve always dreamed of.
So dream big. Pick your personal summit and reach for it with all your might.
